MOPOKE - biography
Dan Williamson, AKA Mopoke...33yrs of age, Dan has been attending and participating in the Brisbane doof scene for the past 15 years mainly as a punter but later as crew for sound and light projection but after moving to the Cairns/Daintree region in far north Queensland in 2004 he has become more involved in the chilled side of things. So after prompting from Solatek (Psytek/Whittika Network) he played his first set at the Cairns Summer Solstice Gathering in 2005.
Since then Mopoke has played sets at Techgnosis lifestyle gathering, Cairns Winter Solstice 2006 along side U-Recken, Insane Creation and Suncontrolspecies...Emotion- with Antix and Triptych plus Earthfreq 2006 and 2007 with Tegma,Sensient and Monolake. He has also played as a double act with Dakini(Submerge Chill Festival/Resonant-Temple) called "Mokini".Performing for opening ceremony's and chill spaces, Mopoke creates a space and brings in the unique majick of the Australian tropics playing a mixture of temple beats, ambient soundscapes, drum and space and micro beats with a taste of dub. Soon to be writing his own tracks, expect these to come with a Rainforest flavour.
