SOLOMOON - biography
My life was completely transformed in 1993 when I fatefully discovered the global movement of trance-ambient music. I was immediately captivated by the intelligent, innovative, and cerebral qualities that defined its character as a timeless language that transcended not only musical genres, but also cultures and their broad, geographical boundaries.
Deeply inspired, I took up the art of dj-ing in 1994 seeking to immerse myself within the electronic subculture and share this boundless music that had been the source of my inspiration with others. While hosting multiple trance-ambient radio shows, I stumbled upon the Goa-trance movement, and was intrigued by its prevalence within spiritual communities from 1st to 3rd world countries. I completely resonated with its message as a rediscovery of the archaic trance-dance ritual and I soon began spinning both chill and trance sets at various festivals around the US including Gaian Mind, Burning Man, and later reaching Cape Town, South Africa and Goa, India.
My dj sets are an expression attempting to translate this ancient message to others through the medium of sound by combining intelligent melodies, tribal rhythms, organic textures, and ethnic emotions. In an age where technology blurs the line between the organic and inorganic, I feel this medium is a successful fusion transcending the boundaries between man, machine, and spirit. For me, this music is a conscious exploration of spirituality through technology.
